Hello! My name is Kathy Seppamaki and I am a Holistic health coach, stress management coach, certified master hypnotist, and FasterEFT practitioner.
My story is not so different from so many people today. I haven’t always been a healthy person. As a matter of fact, I lived many decades as a completely unhealthy person. I have been overweight for pretty much as long as I can remember. I remember going to Weight Watchers meetings with my Mom when I was a pre-teen (yikes!). I spent my teen years being about 30-40 pounds overweight. It definitely took a toll on my self-esteem.
Once I went to college the weight really piled on because of the stress I was putting on myself to be perfect. I used food as comfort in those days. I comforted myself with food to the point that I became morbidly obese at a whopping 265 pounds. I struggled with severe acid reflux and other digestive issues, depression, panic attacks and allergies.
I was miserable, but didn’t know how to make a change.
In 2014, I had a couple of life changing events that really put things into perspective for me. My mother, who had been diagnosed with uterine cancer in 2010, passed away. Two months later my husband and I separated and eventually divorced. The stress of these events took an even greater toll on my health, which honestly wasn’t great to begin with.
I lost my voice for 6 months, became incredibly fatigued to the point that getting out of bed and functioning was difficult for me. I was dealing with massive amounts of grief, depression and anxiety. I knew that something had to change and that for the first time in my life, I had to make myself the priority. I had completed health coaching certification several years earlier, but had been so busy trying to help others that I was last on my list. I felt that self care was selfish….but I couldn’t have been more wrong!
I began to put myself first and in doing that, in eating whole, real foods, in managing stress, in healing my gut, in getting off of the couch and in getting better sleep, I am healing. Now I want to share what I’ve learned.
Throughout my life I’ve always been fascinated with natural ways to heal the body. I loved learning about natural health on my journey to heal myself. And to say that I am passionate about it is an understatement. As a result, over the years I have studies a host of different natural healing modalities such as hypnosis, aromatherapy, NLP, EFT, FasterEFT and nutrition.
I received my Holistic Health Coaching training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, the largest nutrition school in the world. It was here that I was trained in more than one hundred dietary theories and studied a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods. Through this training I discovered how amazing the human body is. The body has the amazing ability to heal itself, with the proper tools. I am currently a student of the certification program at Functional Diagnostic Nutrition which is like health coaching meets Sherlock Holmes! It gets to the heart of why there is dysfunction in the body using one of the most powerful tools available….lab testing! I can’t wait to begin sharing
Unfortunately, the standard diet today consists of lots of refined, packaged and processed foods…all of which have little nutritional value. This has lead to a large population of people who are malnourished. When your body does not receive the nutrients it needs, nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and amino acids, it simply cannot thrive and illness sets in. I never realized how malnourished my body was, until I began to eat whole foods and using supplements that raised my nutrient stores to healthy levels.
I have been using this same information to help family, friends and clients to reverse the ill effects of low nutrient levels and reclaim their health, their energy, their vitality and their lives.
Now that I am single again, I am even more passionate about helping other single women to put themselves and their health first. So often singles rely on takeout and a lot of packaged and processed foods instead of cooking for just one. I’m here to help change that mindset and to learn how to live a healthy and happy single life!
