How to Make Hard Boiled Eggs in the Instant Pot

How to Make Hard Boiled Eggs in the Instant Pot from Kathrynseppamaki.com #instantpot

I have been having so much fun with my Instant Pot! I am so glad they started making the 3 quart. It is truly the perfect electric pressure cooker for one or two people. I had been wanting a smaller one for a long time. I have been  single again for almost two years, and I see so many of my single friends eating out A LOT! But I didn’t want that to be me.

Many of them feel as if it’s too much work to cook for only one person. So they opt for a lot of processed, convenience meals instead.  Those foods are full of chemical additives and preservatives, many which are toxic. And I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be filling my body with chemicals that could contribute to cancer or that can lead to hormone imbalances!

That’s what I love about the smaller appliances that are on the market now. They make cooking for one or two people so much easier, and can encourage people to start cooking for themselves more often!

This 3 qt Instant Pot Mini is the perfect for me! It allows me to fix smaller portions of healthy, home-cooked meals and allows me to avoid eating out all of the time!

I am in a few Facebook Instant Pot groups and there was a big thread about cooking hard boiled eggs.  I love to make deviled eggs for family gatherings….but have always had a problem with eggs not peeling well. Ugh! That is the worst!

Now in the FB groups, people were raving about just how well eggs cooked in the Instant Pot peeled and how simple the process is.  I was intrigued and wanted to learn more, so I looked for instructions on how to cook the eggs. The most recommended method is the 5x5x5.  This means cooking for 5 minutes, letting steam naturally release for 5 minutes, doing a quick release after that time is up and then soaking the eggs in ice water for 5 minutes to stop the cooking process.

Now, this is not the only method that works according to the people in the groups. In fact, many people have their own methods for doing hard boiled eggs in the Instant Pot that work very well for them. But since the triple 5 method was recommended the most often, I decided to try it!

I have no idea where this method originated, or I would be happy to give credit where credit is due.

I went ahead and followed the instructions and was pleasantly surprised that it worked so well!

I love cooking the eggs this way because it’s a very simple process. You know when the eggs are ready because of the Instant Pot beeping when they have finished cooking. No more over cooking hard boiled eggs on the stove-top because you forget about them (I may have done that before a time or two).

The eggs turned out beautifully and they did peel very well!
