The easy way to cook butternut squash!

This fall and winter I have really gotten into using winter squash like butternut squash in different recipes. So I am always looking for new ways to incorporate it into new meals. But one thing that I really wanted to do was to find a simple way to cook the squash for soups, mashed squash recipes. And since I like the easy way of doing things, I wanted to try using the slow cooker!

Baking it in the oven is fine, but I also wanted a way too cook it so that I could leave the house and run some errands. Here’s where the slow cooker became my rockstar appliance!

Slow Cooker Butternut Squash

Cooking butternut squash has never been easier...just use your slow cooker!
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 3 hours
Total Time 3 hours 10 minutes


  • 1 butternut squash
  • 2-3 tbsp water


  1. Cut the squash in half and scoop out the seeds.
  2. Cut each half in half and place into slow cooker
  3. Add water to slow cooker
  4. Cook on low for 3 hours
  5. Allow squash to cool slightly and scoop out the pulp for use is stews, soups and mashes.
